The time has come to sell our 1993 Viking 26ft centre cockpit (Gizmo)
The boat can be sold with the mooring in Poynton, or it can be sailed away. Delivery can also be arranged by the buyer.
*FRESH BSS*
We bought Gizmo a few seasons ago from the loveliest of couples, they had owned the boat for many years and had just used it for day trips up and down the Macc canal. We took ownership of the boat with the understanding for us as a family that loved to spend weekends away we would need to update and add to Gizmo.
Being a typical bloke, things escalated pretty quickly and I ended up spending an absolute fortune… Everything in the boat is brand new. First of all I started with the electrics, I was lucky enough to have a good friend who was an electrician, we fitted a huge AGM battery, with a split charge relay, I also fitted a Victron smart battery charger so look after the battery when on 240v and updated the control panel including USB ports and Voltmeters on the dash. We rewired most of the boat and changed all the bulbs for LED, also added in the correct up to date fusing etc.
The next job was to sort the lack of heating out. A Propex 2800 High output gas heater was fitted, I had it checked by a marine qualified gas man for peace of mind! It was complete overkill, but I’d rather be too hot than too cold with young kids! I fitted a single vent in the rear cabin, a single vent in the cockpit and 2 vents in the front cabin, it gets lovely and toasty throughout the boat even in the depths of winter! All the pipes are lagged as well, so there is very little heat loss!
There was a lack of a fridge in Gizmo so I bought a Dometic CRX50 with the added switch to run on 240v as well as 12v. This was a major headache to fit, but thanks to a local fabrication firm we also managed to get the surround to fit as well, which just finishes it off visually. I sound proofed the cupboard to stop any noise disturbing sleep if the fridge decides to click on and off.
Brand new Dometic gas cooker with grill and gimbles, complete over kill, but works as it should!
I completely refreshed the bathroom, Brand new Electric flush toilet which has a pump out tank but also with a direct outlet too (which is unheard off in GRP boats!) new shower head and wall coverings. I also changed the wastewater pump to a Whale gulper. I may have also fitted a stupidly expensive light in there too so you can switch it to red at night so we didn’t wake the kids up too much when using the loo!
Boat holds 150l of water in a front mounted bag, which is filled through an outside point, I also changed the water pump to a Whale pump for a bit more pressure for the shower and kitchen taps.
Brand new cockpit canopy fitted a few months ago this was done at great expense as the old one was still functional but tired. New window wiper motor as the old one was broken, and a new blade. Works lovely now! The forward light was changed for a full LED aircraft landing light! Makes night cruising absolutely fantastic!
15Hp Honda motor powering the boat, recently serviced, starts first time and runs smoothly.
Brand new boiler too, along with brand new curtains!
In summary the boat is good to go, but does need some finishing touches so its perfect, but as you can see from the photos, a couple hours over the winter will have it ship shape! I really intended to finish everything off, but Iv just run out of time with work, family and everything that goes with life.
