GUIDE PRICE £1,750,000 - £2,000,000 - Penelope is one of the most attractive, stylish and well maintained boats on the Thames. At 29m long with a 5.7m beam, she offers 2,405 internal sq. ft. of unique living space and has incredible views. She is moored at Riverside Quarter with a licence till 2063.
Built to the current owners’ design, with the collaboration of a top naval architect and a leading commercial shipyard, PENELOPE was completed in 2008. She has been fitted out to produce one of the most well thought out and beautiful houseboats to be seen on the Thames. Her specification compares with that of a high end property on land. The living areas have spectacular views of the river.
Current owners’ views on living on the houseboat PENELOPE:
“Being here is like living in a large detached house on a secure, gated marina, with generous accommodation, fabulous westerly views and plenty of outdoor entertaining space on the front, upper, lower and ‘walkway’ decks. The boat is so well insulated that she’s toasty warm in winter and cool in summer. As she is so well-built and heavy (140 tonnes), she is very stable in the water.
Because we both work from home we’ve apportioned the accommodation to provide two double bedrooms (both en-suite), a spacious office, and a study / studio. But the rooms could be configured to offer three double bedrooms and a study / studio / hobby room / playroom / second reception room.
The main living room is large, light and airy and provides excellent entertaining space for parties, family get-togethers and meetings. The dining table can easily be extended to seat 14 with generous space.
It’s delightful being part of the friendly Moorings community and the wider Riverside Quarter ‘village’, as well as being able to enjoy a swimming pool with the best view in London. There are also two gyms. Another pool and gym are currently under construction.”
