1984. GRP construction with black topsides, part GRP moulding for deck and hull, encapsulated keel, ballasted with concrete and steel punchings, aft self draining cockpit, transom hung rudder, 2 berth interior, gaff cutter rig. Hatch renewed in 2018, runners needs replacing.

Oysterman 16 designed by Canadian Paul Gartside, along the general lines of a Falmouth sailing oyster dredger, the Oysterman 16 is a small GRP gaff cutter, with a small cuddy in the forepeak. Heavier and with a far higher ballast ratio than many other small GRP gaffers, she has a substantial rig, and as a result is surprisingly fast.
Yanmar 1GM 6.5hp single cylinder inboard diesel engine. engine was installed by the manufacturer and was ballasted to suit. Shaft drive to 2 blade propeller.
Alternator charging to 1 x 12v battery with solar panel. Switch panel.
Compass, Autohelm 800 tillerpilot.
Manual bilge pump.
Anchor with chain, kedge anchor.
Slab reefing mainsail. Furling system (2005) with furling jib. Topsail. Other Jibs also available. Wooden mast and spars. Stainless steel standing rigging. Sail area is 315 sq.ft.
