Selling as we are changing boating direction and going back to sailing, this boat has been the centre of our family summer fun - a perfect entry into cruising without breaking the bank!
This rare & well regarded vessel offers full big boat amenities in the famous Four Winns quality of build & style and it is compact enough to tow if you desire.
The gelcoat is all in great condition and its a really solid thick gel that FW are famous for.
The deck areas at the bow is huge and plenty of room to lounge.
There is a very comfortable cockpit room with a double width captains seat that can easily sit 2 adults - directly behind there is a super lounge area behind that's very practical - we sit 6 round it to eat. And the table can be removed and converted into a large double size with the infill cushion.
We had a new camping cover made and fitted - its brilliant & fits perfectly - lovely clear large windows and panels can rolled up or taken off leaving just the Bimini top when you need some shade.
That can either be tied up on top at of the way in a bespoke zip up cover or dropped in a minute to rest on the rear seat if you need any extra headroom for low bridges.
Somewhere I'm sure I've also got a tonneau cover but I need to find that - it may be in the loft as we've never used it.
I looked at a few boats before we purchased this with family needs in mind & it stood head & shoulders above the rest with a usable cabin above and below that will have you disbelieving that this is only a 24-foot cruiser!
I'm nearly 6ft and have no trouble with head room & sleeping room - I've modelled my legs in the pictures. for reference.
Four of us have spent multiple nights away comfortably - and we've taken up to 8 on board out for days out.
Official Spec:
Volvo Penta 5.0 GXI with Dual Prop outdrive, full instrumentation, Magellan Chart plotter (I don't bother with it as I use Navionics on the iPad and have run an apple charge cable to the helm), depth finder, marine CD radio with speakers above and below, tilt/power steering, remote spotlight, flip-up bolster driver's seat, cup holders!
Luxuriously appointed cabin features: Galley w/microwave, single burner range, refrigerator/freezer, AM/FM CD satellite ready stereo, V-berth, removable table, carpet, lighting, aft berth, head w/sink and shower, carbon monoxide detector, lots of storage - we call it the Tardis. We take 2 full-size inflatable paddle boards with us as well as all the baggage & food.
Additional features include: a pressurised hot water system, dual batteries w/switch, battery charger, transom hot & cold shower, extended swim platform w/ladder, trim tabs, stainless steel dual prop
It is the rare 2 tone paint model - fitted with the cruise & Marina packages at build which means you get dual controls for the upgraded audio system which I've added a simple Bluetooth receiver to - one by helm & the other by bathing platform, upgraded porcelain head with holding tank and monitor for both grey & drinking water.
The fuel tank is large and takes about £300 to fill - that lasted us all of last season. The water tank is a good size as well enabling hot showers below and on the bathing platform.
A remote searchlight & aft cockpit set fill-in cushions. It also has separate diesel powered cabin heating - not that we've ever had to use it!
Also teak flooring throughout the deck area.
I've kept on top of maintenance - to note the 2 stage fuel pump was replaced end of last season - along with....
New larger batteries to enable longer stays away at anchor and a Sterling top of the range intelligent dual charger. Water pump & belts, all ignition leads, plugs, filters replaced. New auto bilge pump also fitted.
I have video of the boat running and engine start up for reference,
She is currently ashore in Poole being polished and new decals applied that have worn. That should be completed by 10th April.
Props have been serviced & balanced, plus new gimbal bearing and shaft fitted, bellows, leg oil change, anodes, trim sender - water tank treated with aquasol.
Engine hrs are low, 378.4 in fact as it's only been used cruising around Studland and the Poole harbour area by us and the previous owners. There are 2 keys.
Also included in the sale is an Excel Volante 230 matching colour dinghy that is really compact but sits 4 comfortably due to the large tubes & attaches with snap davits to the bathing platform. Underway you just pull the painter up and tie it off to the rail on the rear of the seat.
And a Magma Stainless Steel BBQ that connects to the corner of the platform with a simple click in leg - a very quick and easy to use system that also packs up into a bag.
Both these items were purchased over last 2 years and cost over £1500.
The 248 is currently ashore & being compound polished, leg painted, any marks removed/repaired, new decals & stripes applied and anti fouled - a couple of stage 1 pics here so you can see the shine! She will look stunning when finished.
I expect this to be completed by end of the week commencing 5th April.
So the full Summer good to go package - an exceptional boat for her age which due to her colour scheme & fit out is very different to many UK 248s.
All ready for you to have a great time out on the water like we've had for the last three years of ownership & we will genuinely be sad to see her go - but we are ready to get back into sailing now my kids are a bit older & at the moment super keen!
