Amieira Marina, Lake Alqueva Evora Portugal [View Map] |
I bought this beautiful boat, "Oceans Return", from Broom in 2016, after extensive renovation works by Broom - over £60,000 was spent by the previous owner before he decided not to continue and gave the boat to Broom. I bought it and spent a further £15,000 finishing off the work. I had it transported by low-loader to Lake Alqueva in Portugal, Europe's largest man-made lake, some 2 hours north of the Algarve and 2 hours east-south-east of Lisbon. I was taking up residency in Portugal and the intention was for my wife and I to live on the boat while we bought a piece of land and built a house in one of the villages surrounding the lake. By early 2016, the boat was berthed in Amieira Marina, who were operating their own Hire Fleet of Nicolls Cabin Cruisers, so all facilities were to hand in the Marina complex. The importation process was completed and we lived on the boat very comfortably. We no longer do so, having a place in a lakeside village, a few kms from Amieira. I am not going to describe the boat in detail here, other than to confirm that it was a very highly specified Broom Ocean 37, following its renovation by Broom in 2015. The layout and features of a Broom Ocean 37 can be gleaned easily from the Internet and full information will be sent to anybody sufficiently interested. The condition of the exterior finishes of the boat have experienced 'wear & tear' from the fierce Alentejo sunshine and could now benefit from some "TLC". The ideal purchaser is someone from the UK who spends time in Portugal and can benefit from the boat being here already, or, somebody living in the Algarve or indeed Lisbon and wanting a superb cruiser of this size and quality already on the lake. If the buyer wishes to remove the boat from Lake Alqueva, obviously they will face lifting charges and delivery by low-loader. All assistance in that regard can be given by us in Portugal.

They both perform exactly as they did when I bought the boat 9 years ago. We refurbished the turbos and Injectors 3 years ago with a specialist in the UK. I am assured that the slight smoke from each engine when running is totally proportionate with the age of these original engines - (many suggest that Perkins diesels of that era smoked when new!)
