Built by Joseph Scarr in 1910 Sheffield size 61ft 6ins x 15ft 6ins. Used by the Waterways Museum/Sobriety Project which has sadly gone out of business. Sobriety was used as a residential and day trip boat along the canals and has accommodation for ten passengers and two crew. Powered by a JCB Mermaid, 4 cylinder Type J444, 84 hp which was fitted in 2008, also in 2008 the propeller and rudder were repaired and a new tail shaft fitted. Also there was extensive refitting to the accommodation including hull foam insulation, extensive timber linings, electrical rewiring and plumbing. Below deck from forward, she has a two berth cabin forward, chain locker, a large open saloon incorporating galley, mess space and wheelchair/stores lift from deck, port heads/WC and starboard heads and shower, two aft port and starboard compartments of five berths each and engine room. She has disabled access with the toilet/shower access and the hydraulic lift. Oil fired central heating throughout. Galley has a large flame-failure-safe gas cooker oven and an electric fridge. She has two sea toilets ito holding tank. Black water tank holds 350 gallons. Bridge equipment includes a demountable VHF radio and engine instrumentation and controls. Wheel/chain steering fitted. She has a Beta Marine 5kw 240v AC generator, portable type electric air compressor, Kubola 19.7kw diesel fired heating unit,12v DC battery banks, two Victron charger/invertors, 240v AC shore power supply and 12v DC distribution boards. A workshop is incorporated in the engine room. Diesel tank holds 250 gallons. Life saving appliances include a Carley type 20 person float and two lifebuoys. Fire extinguishers are in date. A manual windlass and large stockless anchor with 15mm stud link chain situated at the bow. Navigation Lights. Boat Safety Certificate March 2022. Last out of the water September 2016 but as she was used as a trip boat she has been subject to periodical surveys. All the hard work has been done to Sobriety and it would not take an awful lot to turn her into the houseboat of your dreams!!!!!! Currently being painted.
