I bought this boat in a fit of enthusiasm at the 2009 Boat Show and had various modifications made by the vendors, Purbeck Marine (battery charger, second battery, hot water system, cockpit canopy, etc but now find that my financial situation has deteriorated and I need the money. I am therefore offering it, unused, at a substantial discount (List price new £45,000).
Although I bought the boat for inland waterways, it is a seagoing craft and will plane at 15knots
It has a bright, spacious cabin with ample headroom, convertible dining table, two double berths, chemical wc in separate compartment, cooker and sink; adjustable pilot seat, hydraulic steering; full instrumentation; large cockpit with seats and canopy; 130hp inboard diesel engine. |

'Proper' semi displacement offshore cruising boat, blending first class seakeeping with comfortable and practical accommodation.
Designed by TT Boat Designs, originators of the Nelson range of seagoing pilot and naval boats, the Orkadian 20 has a smart interior, with separate toilet and a proper galley makes it ideal for coastal cruising. Big and beamy enough to ensure serious offshore ability, yet can still be trailed to more distant cruising grounds.
A strong, seaworthy and highly practical trailable pocket cruiser (built 2000) in excellent condition, with a four-stroke Yamaha 80HP and a SBS SLR4-1800 twin-axle trailer (both new 2004).
A specially made canvas enclosure with a roll-up panel allows the wheelhouse to be open to the cockpit or fully enclosed against the weather.
Particular features are hydraulic steering, an integral 135 litre stainless steel fuel tank, trim tabs, 2 batteries (new battery selection switch), a lifting auxiliary engine bracket and a 5-step transom mounted stainless steel boarding ladder.
Orkney built two versions of the outboard powered Orkadian, 'Standard' and 'SE'. This is the SE model, which includes alloy framed windows, cabin table, holly striped cabin sole, windscreen wipers and an engine-well cover also useable as a cockpit table.
On Small Ships Register.
This has proved to be the most economical boat I have owned! Think no marina fees! It beaches overnight with one fender under a keel to keep it level. You can find quiet spots at the end of creeks in shallows beyond the main mooring lines and observe wildlife without interruption.
It is extremely seaworthy taking the ebbing spring bump over the Bar at Chichester in its stride and Force 6 to Poole at the beginning of the year.
Trailing and launching are totally problem free with my Volvo V70 estate.

2006 640 pilothouse fitted with a 100hp Mariner 4 stroke (2006) and spare 3.5hp mariner included with the sale.
The boat is fitted with a factory fitted live bait tank, 90 litre below deck water tank and pressure deck wash.
The pilothouse contains the following equipment, Chartplotter, radar. marine radio, cd player and radio, espacher heater and blower a porta loo is also within the cabin area.
Plenty of cabin storage is available and a small single burner spirit stove is included for making tea ect.
The boat is fitted with two fire extinguishers within the pilothouse area.
Externaly there are fitted rod holders and hand rail rod holders, plenty of under deck storage in three separate compartments, a table is also stored beneath the deck space.
A lovely boat currently moored at Brighton Marina, all fees paid up until April 2010 and included within the sale of this boat. |

OCEAN MOONLIGHT
Ocean Moonlight has taken the traditional wooden Vietnamese fishing boat and recreated a vessel to ¡¡±high quality commercial build specs¡¡L which is capable of offshore use and circumnavigation.
The Ocean Moonlight is designed as a motorsailor with a strong emphasis on motoring. The Chinese lug sail is designed primarily as a ¡¡±get home¡¡L sail and although this boat can sail to windward the best point of sail is on a reach ¡V which is true for most sailing junks. We use an unstayed mast with all sail sheets and lines handled from inside the relative safety of the pilothouse.
To ensure seaworthiness this vessel is relatively narrow with a LOA/beam ratio of 1/4; for a 16 m LOA the beam is 4 m. Beamier vessels provide more liveaboard space but reduced seaworthiness.
Accommodation is provided in 3 cabins plus Pilothouse with a total of 10 berths and 2 heads. Water tankage 2,000 liters, diesel fuel tankage 2,000 liters.
This vessel uses a deeper V-shaped hull than the traditional Vietnamese fishing boats ¡V for a more seaworthy vessel. We build this vessel with a total of 5 watertight bulkheads.
Planking is ¡¡±Kien Kien¡¡L wood ¡V a wood comparable to teak in many ways ¡V of thickness at least 45 cm. A harder wood ¡¡±Cho¡¡L is used for frames, which are 400 mm apart.
Ocean Moonlight has a 200 HP Yanmar LOA 16 m, beam 4 m, draft 1.1 m (shoal draft) and displacement of approx. 30,000 metric tons.
If you are looking for a work boat, long distance cruiser or charter vessel this may be it.
