An exceptional Chris Craft 40ft Double Cabin Enclosed Bridge Cruiser. Sleeps eight in two cabins plus saloon. Construction of mahogany planking on oak frames; double diagonal below chine, carve with seam batens above.
Very rare, she was one of the first of this model to be built in 1937 at the original Chris Craft yard in Algonac on the St CLair river just north of Detroit. In the same year she was shiped to England and registered in Poole.
This boat was featured in Motor Boat and Yachting in May 1993 wen she was described as "will turn heads wherever she goes and those who find themselves invited aboard wil feel priveleged to enjoy such a classic whether they make a passage on her or just stay alongside".
Requisitioned by the British Admiralty in WWII.
The previous owner, along with the highly respected Michael Dennett Boatbuilders of Laleham spent more than 10 years thoroughly restoring this boat as much as possible to her original specification, the refit was completed in 2005. The boat has returned to Dennetts' Yard regularly for general maintenance, minor repairs and improvements.
The beam of this motor yacht allows for well sized cabins and a very large saloon with fuley equipped galley including microwave, double s/s bowls and fridge with icebox.
Current Boat Safety Scheme Certificate, without limitations. This confirmsthat the safety aspects of the vessel in such important areas as, for example, the gas installation, fire appliances and electrical installation have been verified and approved by a qualified boat safety examiner. In addition this boat comes with the benefit of a full pre purchase survey which was carried out for the current owner in 2008.
This boats davits carry a delightful little 8ft Brazilian cedar on oak tender which is included in the sale. The tender was featured in Cassic Boat in September 1991.
Accommodation
From forward:
Chain locker accessible from the forward cabin.
Forward cabin with V-berth. Ample storage.
Galley to starboard, containing Spinflow Nelson two-burner gas hob and oven. Panasonic microwave, 240 Volt refrigerator, extractor fan. Skylight in deckhead.
Toilet and shower to port.
Steps lead up to saloon / wheelhouse containing two settee berths. Large sliding roof. The main entrance doors are on this level to port and starboard. The engines are located under the saloon and there is access to the stern glands under the aft cabin sole.
The saloon steps lead down to the master cabinwhich contains two settee berths, one of which extends into a double berth. Dressing table and ample storage.
Forward on the port side of the owners suite is a toilet compartment with electric toilet and wash basin.
From the aft cabin steps and a door lead to the aft cockpit. This contains a self draining gas cylinder locker.

Electrical system
Two banks of batteries providing 24V power for engine starting and services. They can be charged through the engines or through a battery charger.
240V shore power through a circuit breaker supplying some cabin lights, the 24/240V refrigerator and a calorifier/ 2Kw immersion heater for hot water. Domestic water may also be heated also from one of the engines and also by the Eberspacher unit.
